In another post, I gave you several of
my favorite quotes for mothers. Now, here are a few for women in
general. Think of it as bite-sized inspiration!
Charm is deceptive, beauty is fleeting.
But the woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.-Proverbs 31:30.
The larger passage Proverbs 31:20-31
gives the description of an honorable woman, one I think we can all
identify with in some way. Even if we don't plant vineyards or look
for the best wool or flax, we have a great deal of strength that
others may not see. We do it all for the love of our families, not to
glorify ourselves.
To the whole world, you might be just
one person. To one person, you are the whole world.-Unknown
I am sure that if the mothers of
various nations could meet, there would be no more wars.-E.M.
Forster, Novelist
Personal note: I agree! Women tend to
be more slow to anger and don't use brute force if we don't have to.
If we do, however, it's quick and direct. Think about it; have
you ever seen two women fight? It's fast and one-on-one. She would
sooner scratch another woman's eyes out and be done with it than send
her son off to do it!
A woman is like a tea bag-you never
know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.-Eleanor Roosevelt
Contrary to popular opinion, you don't
have to hate men to be a feminist. You just have to love women.-my friend Veronica
We ask justice, we ask equality, we ask
that all the civil and political rights that belong to citizens of
the United States, be guaranteed to us and our daughters
forever.-Susan B. Anthony, activist and one of the reasons we have
the rights we do today.
I'd rather be thought of as smart,
capable, strong and compassionate than beautiful. Those things all
persist long after beauty fades. -Cassandra Duffy, Author
Everything I ever needed to know about
life, I learned in kindergarten. Boys are stupid.-A greeting card a
friend once gave me
Women have been ruling for ages. We
just let men think they do.-Me, in response to a guy in my history
class' allegation that women aren't fit for ruling a country
If you ever want a man to do anything,
you have to make him think it was his idea.-My mother, and boy was
she right! :)
In politics if you want anything said,
ask a man. If you want anything done, ask a woman.-Margaret Thatcher,
former British Prime Minister. Take that, history-class-guy!
:)
A woman must not depend upon the
protection of man, but must be taught to protect herself.-Susan B.
Anthony, activist
I don't want to get to the end of my
life and find that I lived just the length of it. I want to have
lived the width of it as well.-Diane Ackerman, poet
To conclude, a link to the words every
woman and girl needs to hear:
